Why is it so that so few Latinos reach the very highest levels of corporate and governmental America? This is the main question addressed by Rene Balmaseda in his paper "The US Hispanic/Latino Disparity". Is the answer based on education, language or other cultural issues? Is prejudice (a main problem faced by all immigrant groups throughout US history) a key player or not? The paper addresses these and the need for a greater percentage of Latino leaders due to the great demographic changes of the next half century and the importance to future American success.
